Last Friday saw the release of the long awaited new album by New York legend Pharoahe Monch and his hip-hop/rock group th1rt3en "A Magnificent Day For An Exorcism". Some time before the pandemic hit we got a chance to catch up with Queens MC after his show in Warsaw, Poland to talk about his jazz influences and collaborations with trumpeter Keyon Harrold, early years of Organized Konfusion and memories of Paul C, solo debut "Internal Affairs" and timeless banger "Simon Says", as well as having mainstream success and staying underground.

Pharoahe also recalled the days of touring with Talib Kweli and Mos Def, revealed who mostly inspired him to go record the second solo album "Desire", spoke about dealing with asthma, picked his favorite MC from his classic "The Anthem" collab alongside Eminem, RZA, Tech N9ne, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, Chino XL, Xzibit; as well as remembered creating mini-movie for the song "Clap (One Day)". Lastly, Pharoahe talked about his rock album with guitarist Marcus Machado and drummer Daru Jones as th1rt3en.
